relay the current
Two years ago, if you would’ve asked me what it’d take to launch a church, and cultivate world class leaders, I would’ve came up with some formal polite answer. My answer today? It’s grind or die! Leadership isn’t for the faint of heart. After all JESUS said, if you put your hand to that plow and look back, you’re not fit (Luke 9:62). I’m not much of a blogger, but I am one to speak truth in grace and love. Truth is, the leaders at Highlight Church currently work 9-5’s while also working in ministry, and the ministry doesn’t stop until they hit their pillows at 12am. Emails roll in, texts messages don’t stop, creative thoughts continue on hyperdrive, meetings after meetings, the Holy Spirit reminding you of people to pray for, and the list goes on. Here’s the thing...we wouldn’t have it any other way.
It’s in the current that God builds the strongest of leaders. The stronger the current, the more fight in your stroke to get you to shore. The higher the waves, the stronger your muscles become. We don’t back down here at Highlight Church. We raise up leaders that are in the business of raising up other leaders. Pastor Joshua and I understand that the stronger we are at the core, the more of an unstoppable force we become. When Jesus told Peter that the gates of hell would never come against the building of the church (Matt. 16:18), He wasn’t kidding.
So we are willing to have the tough conversations, if it means building stronger leaders. We are willing to stay up later hours, if it means more people are finding true life in Jesus. Currently we have directional team leaders who oversee 2 to 3 team leads who serve at a high capacity as well. It’s all about making disciples, it’s all about multiplication. We are in the business of doing it the way Jesus did. Fully moving forward even if we’re tired, because there are still 5,000 to feed (Mark 6:30-44). There is no time to waste, lives hang in the balance. So currently at Highlight Church, it’s grind or die until everyone finds true life in Jesus Christ!
